CA foundation course was earlier known as CPT. New syllabus for CA foundation is considered to be highly competitive and hard as compared to the old one.

Eligibility criteria
All the students who have appeared for 12th std. or any equivalent examination are eligible for CA foundation course. Although commerce students have an advantage with the subjects as they know something about these subjects, whereas students from science and arts are also eligible for CA foundation course. Science and arts students can also apply for this course with the same enthusiasm as they have the edge over commerce students because of their analytical skills.
CA foundation course ie the entry level exam to become CA (Chartered Accountant). If you are graduate or post graduate but are inclined to join this course then you’re exempted from this level and can directly register for intermediate level.
CA foundation course registration process and dates
If you are eligible to opt CA, you must keep the registration dates in mind. Last date to register for December attempt is 16th August, 2021. ICAI opens CA foundation registration twice a year and exams are also held twice a year in the month of July and December. Second phase of CA foundation course is going to be held in December 2021.
Since there is no offline registration process, you can now register yourself from the official website. Be careful while filling your basic details.

Registration fees
Total fees charged for this course is around Rs. 10,900/- which includes 9000 Rs. As CA foundation registration fees at the time of registration and Rs. 1500 at the time of registering for the exam.
Subscription charges for the journals are optional but you can register for it as it keeps you updated with CA foundation course and other study material.
Coaching fees for CA foundation course is around 60,000 Rs. for one year and it may vary from institute to institute.
CA foundation registration validity
Once you enroll for this course its validity remains for 3 years. This means if you fail to clear CA foundation in 1st attempt then you have 5 more attempts to clear exams without paying CA registration fees.
After completing CA foundation, students are required to move forward to the second step i.e. CA intermediate. And after completing level 2 i.e. CA intermediate comes CA finals. These are the three steps students need to complete to become CA or chartered accountant. After completing CA IPCC students must undergo 3 years of article ship in any CA firm.
